- The COFFEE is grown on farms that contain:
- * 40% of land forest, with a long-term plan for conservation
- * At least a 12 meter canopy, with structural diversity
- * At least 11 species of trees per farm, with 60% of vegetation being native to the land
- * No artificial pesticides or fertilizers ever
What is the mission of Bird Friendly® COFFEE?
- "To understand and conserve birds and biodiversity in coffee and cocoa farming landscapes."
- How do they accomplish their mission?
- * By using science-based criteria, which is informed by research
- * They have 15 different certification agencies, which means, the Bird Friendly® certification does more than any other certification to protect habitats, ecosystems, and wildlife
- * They pay producers a premium, so they have an incentive to become a Bird Friendly® farm. Currently, there are 34,000+ acres that are Bird Friendly®.
Why is this important for you?
