At Barnwood Coffee Company, we roast your coffee in very small batches. This helps us to ensure you get a consistent and even roast. We use temperature, sight, and sound to bring every roast to its desired individual result. Our coffee is roasted with a true handcrafted approach.
We roast all coffee on Fridays and ship within 24 hours.
Our 1891 small batch roast honors the founding year of our farm. This coffee is roasted in a way to achieve a dark roast in color and taste, and also retain the oil within the beans throughout the roasting and cooling process. The goal of this small batch coffee is to preserve the original qualities and flavors of the bean with the addition of dark and smoky notes. The cup is very smooth and balanced.
Old Red is a small batch roasted coffee with a bright and savory cup. The desired result of this roast is to maintain balance between the roast flavor and the origin flavor. This level of roasting allows for the distinction between the unique flavors that present in any given lot of coffee. With medium acidity and body, Old Red is a well rounded coffee typically found among breakfast blends.
Our Heritage roast is a medium roasted coffee with a bright and mildly sweet cup. This coffee is roasted in a way to bring out the natural flavors of the coffee origin which create the soft, mellow, and smooth taste. With a well rounded and gentle citric acidity, Heritage is a great coffee for anyone who likes a medium, but delicate flavor.
Antique is a small batch coffee that produces bold and robust flavors, but with a smooth, full body cup. This coffee is roasted to a higher temperature which pushes the beans to a very dark color with an oily appearance. With a bit darker taste and appearance than our other dark roast, Antique is a great coffee for those who appreciate a milder French roast.
This decaffeinated, whole bean coffee, is roasted between a medium, and dark level. The caffeine in this roast, has been "Weathered" away, but a delicate, sweet, and subtle coffee taste remains. Our Weathered, decaf coffee, has notes of almond and cocoa, with a full bodied cup.
Our spring seasonal roast, Heirloom, will enchant your senses, and take you to a fresh, flowering spring garden. This year, we selected beans from a micro-mill, in Colombia’s Cauca Region. The cup is smooth, sweet and citric, and has notes of berry and toffee. But, what really shines through, making this coffee a treasure, are the strong and pleasant FLORAL notes. This coffee captures the essence of spring; from the smell of the fresh roasted beans, to the flavor of the smooth, sweet cup. Heirloom, is a wonderful, medium roasted coffee, for those seeking the warmer spring, and summer, days ahead.
Our seasonal summer roast celebrates an unwavering symbol of our nation, the American flag. Old Glory is a medium roasted coffee with earthy, herbaceous, and complex characteristics. This cup is full bodied, smooth, and has very low acidity. Old Glory is a special coffee which is bold, yet gentle, just like the colors it represents. This seasonal roast, honors the return of one of our favorite times of year - AUTUMN. For this year's roast, we selected a bean from an origin, that we've had requests for, Nicaragua. There are notes of cooked apple, brown sugar, and dark chocolate; perfect fall flavors! The cup is mellow, sweet, and has a tart acidity. This medium to dark roasted coffee, will leave you feeling warm and cozy on these beautiful, crisp, fall days. Lets welcome autumn home.
Our winter seasonal roast, Flannel Days, will leave you feeling merry and bright, during this beautiful and magical time of year. For this year's roast, we selected a Sumatran coffee, that embodies all the best smells and tastes of the season. It is earthy and has mellow caramelizing cedar notes. This is a low acidic coffee, that has a mild sweetness and good acidity. Flannel Days, is a dark roasted coffee, that will be perfect on those bitter cold winter days, snuggled up, under your favorite flannel blanket.
La abeja feliz, or The Happy Bee, is our newest roast. It is a honey processed COFFEE from Costa Rica. It is not actually made with honey, but processed in a way, giving it some sweet characteristics like honey. This COFFEE, is roasted to a perfect medium, allowing all the notes to shine through. It has a smooth mouthfeel and leaves you with a lingering sweetness. It has notes of brown sugar and toffee, and will leave you feeling, as sweet as can BEE!
Our first Bird Friendly® roast, is as soft and delicate, as a new chicks' downy feathers. It has a mellow tart acidity, and a nest full of notes, including, pecan, malt, and fresh fruit. This is a medium roasted COFFEE. Origin: Guatemala
Our special winter, Bird Friendly® roast, is an ode to all the Wisconsinites, who migrate south, to one of their favorite states, come winter. Snow Bird, is a dark roasted COFFEE. Its mellow, candy-like sweetness, paired with its notes of cocoa, and mild fruit flavors, make it the perfect cup for nesting by the fire. Origin: Guatemala
